Here is a look at Revgear's Vigilante Gel MMA Gloves. Read my full review to see how they stack up against some stiff competition.

Per Manufacture- Revgear Vigilante Gel MMA Gloves. The most comfortable MMA glove you will ever wear. Open palm for solid grip. Unique crossing wrist strap for support. Full one inch of padding including 5 mm gel padding over the punching area. Durable leather construction. Size: S, M, L, XL, XXL. Color: Black

First Impression- When I first opened these gloves up I was a little worried because they seemed like they were going to be bulky as the padding felt thick. The construction looked good and I could not wait to put them through some workouts.

Construction- I would rate the construction of these gloves as better than average. While the leather is well done, but there is some loose stitching. The closure system on these is a dual strap style closure, one thing I really like about this particular closure system is the Velcro goes all the way around providing a very tight fit around the wrist. The fingers are not individually split so for some people that may be annoying, but it did not bother me. The logo across the front is screen printed on and over time while probably become either faded or come off altogether. The lining on the inside of the glove has a satin feel to it. I really like the padding in these as it is not only thicker than most but also feels like it is very shock absorbing. Plus it features a 5mm gel lining across the knuckles for that added protection. These gloves are manufactured in.

Fit- This is with out a doubt my favorite thing about these gloves. There is a ton of adjustability with them, the wrist strap really provides the support that you need when using an mma glove. The lining feels great against the hand, and even though the fingers are not split, you can still easily make a fist. The finger loops are comfortable and do not dig into your hands but on occasion I did have a finger slip out of one of the loops. These gloves are available in several sizes so you can be sure and get the right size.

Stand Up- These gloves work well for stand up, but I do not think that I would consider them competition style gloves as the padding across the knuckle area is just to thick. For light sparring I think that these gloves work just fine. They provide plenty of protection for your hands, while still being able to make a fist. I also like these for use with mitts. My hands did not get sore, but I did develop some rawness between my fingers due to the fingers of the gloves not being split individually.

Ground- I had mixed experiences with these gloves while on the ground. First let me tell you about my main problem. With the padding being so thick I found that the gloves felt a little bulky. There were certain submissions that were harder to get than normal due to the glove actually being in the way. It was not huge, but I could tell they were there more than other gloves that I have used. That was really the only thing that bothered me about these gloves. Everything else while on the ground worked just fine.

Pros-

*Better than average construction

*Great Wrist support

*Very comfortable

Cons-

*A little bulky

*Fingers not split

Overall- These are a pair of gloves that I can recommend and with a small tweaks that I mentioned in the review they could be one of my favorites. If you are looking for a pair of mma gloves to use during training be sure and look at these. If you are looking for some competition gloves you may want to look somewhere else. They can be purchased for right around $60.

Thinking a gear bag is your next investment? Well take a look at my full review of Bad Boy's backpack.

Per Manufacturer-

Bad Boy Backpack. Everything you need for the gym, school, travel, office and more! Full length zippered top opening. Complete with anatomically shaped and padded shoulder strap.

One size: 16″x13.5″x8.5″.

First Impression- This bag is a great looking bag. It has padding everywhere it should and looks like it has plenty of space.

Construction- All I can saw is the construction of this bag is fantastic. No loose threads and the stitching on it it done well. The material that the bag is made out of is very durable and in spots has a similar weave to a gi. On the shoulder straps there is plenty of padding, and there is also padding on the part of the bag that goes against your bag for added comfort. This bag has a strap at the top of the bag so you can carry it in your hand if you want to. There are plenty of graphics on the outside of the bag which are screen printed on, but seem like they will last a long time.

Usage- This type of bag reminds me more of a school bag. While there is plenty of room in the bag itself I could only get so much gear in it. It has tons of different pockets which is nice and even a hole at the top for your headphones to come out of. One thing I did really like is how comfortable this bag is to wear, with all of the padding it makes easy to wear for long periods of time. I did manage to fit one pair of gloves, shorts, mouthguard, and a few smaller items in it but that was about it. Now for most that may work just fine, but for me I like to have 2 pairs gloves and would have liked to been able to get my gi in there as well. I also used this bag for travel and it worked great. Could get everything I needed as a carry-on in there. Laptop, camera(both still and video), magazines, ipod, and some of the smaller items for camera such as lenses and flashes.

Pros-

*Great Construction

*Lots of Pockets

Cons-

*Could be bigger

Overall- This is an excellent bag. While it may not be big enough for some, others may find that it is just the right size without being too big. I can definitely recommend this bag as a gear bag or just something to use when you travel to let others know that you are interested in mixed martial arts. With that said, if you are in the market for a new bag please be sure and check this bag out. It may be just the one you are looking for. This bag can be purchased for right around $40.

Per Manufacturer-

Revgear Enforcer Boxing Gloves. All-leather construction for the very best in training gloves. Injection molded padding with 4mm anti shock gel material over the main punching area makes this glove comfortable from the first time you wear it. Elastic sleeves cover hook and loop closure to help protect you and training partners from cuts and abrasions.

First Impression- First looking at these gloves they looked like an average pair of gloves with good construction. The padding felt nice and thick, and

Construction- These pair of gloves look great. This pair is a 16oz pair of gloves and they definitely look like it. The leather on these gloves is thick and has a good feel to it, it is not stretched to tight across the glove. The logo on the back hand of the glove is screen printed on, but they do have a stitched on logo on the cuff. The closure on these gloves is fairly standard except for they have the sleeve that you pull over the Velcro part. These gloves have are injection molded plus they have a gel lining in them which should offer plenty of shock absorption. The hand compartment is lined with a satin like material, but they have no ventilation in the palm and with the elastic sleeve cover up all the holes I am worried these gloves might keep my hands too hot. They do feature a grab bar and an attached thumb.

Fit- When I first tried these gloves on the hand compartment is sung and really conforms to the hand. One thing I did notice was it takes more effort than normal to make a fist so hopefully my hand will not get tired during workouts. The cuff of these gloves is long and goes about halfway down my forearm. The lining feels good against my hand, but I did notice that it did not absorb much of the sweat on my hands. The closure system on these provides good wrist support, but it is hard to pull the elastic sleeve down the cuff of the glove by yourself.

Pad/Mitts- For me this was my least favorite place for these gloves. It is not that they did not work well at this its just I really liked them for sparring and use on a heavy bag, but I will get into that a little later in the review. These gloves offer good wrist support and great hand protection. When hitting the mitts the gloves felt tight, but I did notice that the lack on ventilation definitely made my hands both hotter and sweatier than other gloves. Another thing that I noticed is my hand became a little fatigued later on in my workouts just because these gloves are a little harder to make a closed fist in.

Heavy Bag- First let me start off by saying that I would either use these gloves for sparring or on the heavy bag, but not both. These gloves provide such great shock absorption thanks to the injected padding and gel lining. A lot of people prefer a very hard glove for heavy bag work and I am not one of those people. For me a harder glove on the heavy bag does not work, but a sparring partner of mine has the complete opposite feeling. Anyway, back to the review. These gloves have good wrist support and after many rounds I did not find that either my hands or wrists were sore. It was also fairly easy to wear wraps as they are not too tight to make them uncomfortable while wraps were on.

Sparring- I would have to say that for these gloves this was my favorite place to use them. The padding in them provides enough support for you while being just the right amount of stiffness for your sparring partner. I got zero complaints from anyone that I sparred with while using these gloves. I did same as before find that my hands would become very hot and sweaty, and also becoming fatigued later on in the work out. Now the reason why I would choose these are either sparring or heavy bag and not both is because using these on the heavy bag is going to make the padding in these gloves become dense and not so sparring friendly. However if I had my choice I think I would pick these for sparring.

Pros-

*Good Construction

*Excellent Padding

*Good Wrist Support

Cons-

*Lack Of Ventilation

*Elastic Sleeve is Difficult by Yourself

*Making a Fist is More difficult than it should be

Overall- These are really a good pair of gloves. The leather is done well and the fit of the glove overall is good. If just the few flaws with these gloves could be addressed I think these would be close to the top of my list. I can definitely recommend these gloves, especially if you are looking for a new pair of sparring gloves. These gloves can be yours for right around $85.

Looking for some new mma gloves? Here I am going to take a look at Bad Boy MMA Leather Fight Glove. Read the full review to see what I think.

Per Manufacturer-
Battle tested in rings and cages around the world. Cut fingers with an open thumb and palm. Wider Velcro wrist strap for extra support. All leather construction. Sizes: M, L, XL, XXL.

First Impression- To be honest when I first saw these they reminded me of the older UFC gloves. The ones made by Ouano. I was very interested to try them out as I like the Ouano gloves.

Construction- The construction of these gloves is good. Like I mentioned before they remind me of the older UFC gloves. The stitching is done well but there were a couple a loose threads. The leather on these gloves is high quality, but there was a couple different places around the fingers where the leather meets and it is a little ruff. One thing that I do really like about these gloves is the thickness of the gloves. The only padding on these gloves is in the knuckle area and part of the fingers. The padding itself is what I would call right in the middle of stiff and soft. These gloves also off a completely open palm. This is both a good and bad thing that I will get more into when I discuss the fit. The lining on the inside of the gloves is well done and these have a standard style hook and loop closure system. However the wrist strap is longer than most gloves I have come across, and loops over the wrist several times. The logo on the fist is screen printed on, but they do have a sewn on patch on the wrist. They are manufactured in Pakistan.

Fit- I have mixed feelings on the fit of these gloves. First I will go over the hand compartment. The lining is very soft and feels great against the hand. The finger holes are tight against the fingers, but there is a place in a couple of them where the leather wears against my hand. There is room in the back of the hand compartment that when you wrap your hands these do not feel too tight. I got a medium in these gloves which is the smallest size that they offer and on me in places it was still too big. For instance, when I would close with the wrist strap I really had to pull it tight, to the point of having it fold over itself which if done right would cause some discomfort. Another thing to mention is that for the had compartment is too wide leaving a space on the outside of the hand that forms a pocket. If you have read my reviews from the past you know that I haven mentioned this about other gloves, and this typically does not give me a problem, but there were a couple times where I would find people getting their fingers caught in my glove. Okay, now for something I like about them, the fact that they have a completely open palm. This provides for very little restriction and freedom of hand movement.

Stand Up- I liked these for stand up. While I did not do a whole lot of striking as far as the heavy bag is concerned, I did use them on mitts and for grappling while on the feet. When I used them on mitts they felt tight and the leather felt good. The gloves stayed on tight around my wrist, but my hand did move around in the hand compartment. When in the clinch or were for a take down these gloves worked great. It hardly felt like I was wearing a glove. I could easily open and close my hand and making a fist felt excellent. However there were a couple times where I had a sparring partner get his finger stuck in the glove.

Ground- On the ground these gloves work well. The open palm allows for full hand movement so whether you are holding an arm, or trying to hold some one down, these work. Still though I would get people getting there fingers stuck in the small pocket formed on the outside palm of the glove. Now keep in mind this was most common when hands were free and not while already grabbing. The gloves feel nice and light, and not make any sort of techniques difficult such as chokes.

Pros-

*Overall Design

*Quality Leather

*Open Palm

Cons-

*Small pocket forms on palm of glove

*Wish there was a smaller size

Overall- The best way to put it is these are a good pair of gloves. They do well at exactly what they are suppose to do. Now with that said these gloves do have a few problems that keep them out of that elite category, but I can still give these a recommendation. These gloves can be purchased for right around $55.

I am always looking for new shorts. Well here is the original vale tudo shorts from Badboy. Read the full review to see if these are a must have.

Per Manufacturer-

The original Bad Boy “Vale Tudo” Shorts are made in Brazil by the same factory that has been making Bad Boy “Vale Tudo” Shorts since 1994. These shorts are the same fabric (also made in Brazil), structure, and fit that have made the Bad Boy “Vale Tudo” Shorts an icon of Mixed Martial Arts.

Each short is fully lined for your comfort and incorporates a drawstring for perfect fit. Often imitated and never duplicated, these shorts remain one of the most sought-after Bad Boy products around the world. 100% Polyamide.

First Impression- When I got these shorts I new that I was going to like them. They felt different then other vale tudo shorts that I had tired and could not wait to put them on and start getting the workouts in.

Construction- The construction of these shorts is absolutely excellent. When I pulled them out of the plastic bag that they I could tell these were going to be great quality shorts. They are thicker than most vale tudo shorts, but yet are still very stretchy. They did not have any loose threads, and are manufactured in Brazil. On the shorts you can see they have screen printed logos, but the screen printing seems extremely durable. I do not foresee it cracking or peeling. Now one thing that is very important about these shorts is you must follow the washing instructions that come with the shorts. The lining on the inside of these shorts is very comfortable. The shorts themselves are made out of 92% Polyamide and 8% spandex, although the website says 100% Polyamide, but I would believe that the tag is correct. The lining of the shorts however is made out of 100% polyamide. These shorts do feature a drawstring which is a nice way to keep them snug and the inner waist band is comfortable.

Fit- I got these shorts in a medium and the fit is right on the money. Now these are just a little bit shorter than other vale tudos I have used, but not my much being just around mid thigh level. The fit nice and tight like you would expect vale tudo shorts to fit. The drawstring comes in handy for keeping the shorts nice and tight around your waist. If you are in doubt about sizing I would go with your actual waist sizing as they are pretty true to size. The lining inside the shorts feels nice and comfortable. I did not have any kind of problems wearing these with a cup, as they actually do an excellent job at keeping one in place. These are the type of shorts that you forget you are wearing.

Stand Up- These shorts work great for stand up. They have plenty of stretch. I did not have any problems with any technique. Most of the time I did not even realize I was wearing them . They are a very comfortable pair of shorts. They range of motion on them is great. They stayed very snug around my waist. The legs did ride up a very little, but there was no shifting around the waist at all.

Ground- On the ground these work very well. Yes it does feel like you are rolling around in your underwear, but hey these are vale tudo shorts. They stayed tight and had very little shifting around the waist. They did ride up in the legs some, but not enough to be annoying. As always with vale tudos it is a little weird to have someone in your guard but over time you get use to it. No problems doing an sort of techniques at all. Very comfortable on the ground.

Pros-

*Well Made

*Durability

*Great Fit

Cons-

*Not for Everyone

*Screen Printed Logos

Overall- What can I say about these shorts? I really could not find a whole lot wrong with them. If you can pull off wearing vale tudo shorts then I highly recommend picking these ones up.
This time I take a look at Revgear's Spartan Pro High Performance Fight Shorts. Read the full review to see what I think.

Per Manufacturer-

Revgear Spartan Pro High Performance Fight Shorts. The most technical fight short on the market!

*High performance two way stretch fabric body with four way stretch gusset.
*5″ side slit with reinforced stress points for high kicking.

*Antimicrobial treated and water repellent.

*Hook and loop enclosure with drawstring.

First Impression- When I first saw these I have to say the styling was kind of bland, but they still looked like high quality shorts. I have never used a Revgear pair of shorts before so did not really know what to expect.

Construction- The construction of these shorts is top notch. Very few loose threads, and everything is either double or triple stitched. These shorts have a fairly standard hook and loop closure system with a drawstring. They have a fitted waist which sometimes I find to be annoying, but not too bad on this pair. The shorts are made in China. There are quite a few logos on these shorts as you can see. Some are embroidered and some are screen printed on the shorts. They have a small split seam and have stretch panel in the inside of the leg. The material itself is a 2 ways stretch and the shorts are made 100% out of polyester. They also have a small pocket on the inside of the waistband.

Fit- For these shorts I first picked up a 32. While the fit was good I felt like I might be better off getting a 30. Well that was what I ended up doing and the 30 fit perfectly. Once the closure system was fastened and the drawstring was tied these shorts fit nice and tight on my waist. There was very little shifting or riding up. These shorts are mid length and go just past the top of my knee. These shorts feel a little heavier than some, but it also makes them feel very durable. They fit of these short is very good just make sure that you have the right size, and I would say when in doubt go a size smaller than normal. Something that I did really like about them is they place the fold over part of the closure system farther down. I liked this because sometimes the velcro can rub against my stomach and cause irritation and with this pair this is not an issue.

Stand Up- When I used these for any sort of stand up they worked great. They stayed snug around my waist, without any ride up. The stretch panel allowed them to have plenty of range of motion. The split seam in these is smaller than most shorts so I really did not feel like it made any difference. These shorts also did not shift much around my waist which was a surprise to me as most shorts that have a fitted waistband tend to shift. The length of these shorts is just right and did not get in the way or cause any sort of binding up. I had no trouble with any sort of technique in these shorts.

Ground- On the ground these shorts work well. They are very comfortable. I did not have any problems with performing any sort of technique. There was more shifting here than there was when using them for stand up but nothing too bad. They did still manage to stay fairly snug around my waist. The legs of them also had a tendency to ride up while on my back. Had plenty of range of motion, and did not bind up when on my back.

Pros-

*Construction

*Snug Fit once you get the correct size

Cons-

*Sizing

*Bland Styling

Overall- These are a good pair of shorts. They do exactly what they are suppose to do. If you like the styling and get the sizing down these may be the shorts for you. These are shorts that I can recommend especially if you are looking for a pair not everyone has. You can pick them up for right around $50. While they are not my favorite shorts, they will remain in my rotation.
