Loose fit, tight fit, think they're all the same? Wrong, check out my review of Jaco's Long Sleeve Rashguard and see how it stacks up.

Per Manufacturer-

This Loose Compression Rashguards ultra breathable Bamboo/Spandex blend provides a cashmere-like feel and comfortable formed fit that protects the skin during grappling and rolling.

95% Rayon from Bamboo, 5% Spandex construction naturally effectively wicks moisture

4-way stretch and ergonomic cut ensures an athletic contoured fit that forms to the body without limiting movement

Strategically placed mesh panels help regulate body temperature

Flat-lock stitching for long-lasting durability

Hidden mouth guard pocket

First Impression- When I first saw this rashguard I was impressed by the quality. I however prefer a tight rashguard over a loose fitting style, but with the bamboo construction and the overall look of this rashguard lets see if this one can convince me otherwise.

Construction- While looking over this rashguard you will see how well it is made. All of the stitching is done very well with no loose ends or torn fabric. This is easily the softest rashguard I have ever come across. The combination of the bamboo and spandex fabrics make it feel incredibly durable. It does have screen printed logos, but it has been through quite a few washes already and they look good as new. Jaco really tried to innovate new features into this rashguard and I think they pulled it off. You will notice that there is an internal mouthguard pocket which is located towards the bottom of the rashguard on the inside. Another thing to point out is the mesh panels. Up until about a month ago this is the only rashguard that I have seen that features something like this and I really enjoy having these built in. It is manufactured in Vietnam.

Fit- With rashguards that are a tight fight I find sizing to be something that is very difficult because I can get it to fit me tight in the upper arms, but then might be loose in the chest and around my wrists. Well with this rashguards that is not the case. I choose to take the advice from Jaco and go with my t-shirt size which is a medium. This rashguard fits me like a slim fit shirt would, where it is not tight but not baggy. The fabric feels great, and has an amazing stretch too it. One thing I did notice is how much sweat this rashguard soaks up. While it is nice that it wicks up so much moisture, it takes a very long time to dry off. The mesh panels do exactly what they are suppose to do. Sometimes while wearing a long sleeve rashguard I find myself to become very hot and sometimes even uncomfortable. Well with these mesh panels I could notice that the rashguard itself did not keep as much heat in. The sleeves are a little long for me, but really a minor problem and will not apply to everyone. I would say when ordering this make sure and order your normal size.

Stand Up- Some people do not like to use a rashguard during stand up, but because I frequently go between ground and stand up in the same workout I end up wearing it for both. While using this during stand up I found both good and bad points. First the good, the rashguard itself is very soft and comfortable and does do a good job at breathing well. It also has great range of motion and is excellent at wicking away moisture. However because it does such a good job at wicking away moisture, it becomes quite heavy and very noticeable. It also take a very long time to dry off which adds to it feeling heavy.

Ground- This is were the bread and butter of a rashguard should be. It does a good job at protecting you when using a GI from things like the GI rubbing against your neck or arms and becoming irritated. One thing that did bother me and I find this to be with all loose fit style rashguards is that it does bunch up in places which can be annoying. For this rashguard hopefully you have a light weight style GI because while during stand up this rashguard stays cool, when under a GI it can get very hot. The moisture wicking in this case actually helps here because it keep you a little cooler but by the end of your workout I guarantee you will be absolutely soaked. If you use this for nogi it works about the same as stand up, but once again it does bunch up.

Pros-

*Build Quality

*Mesh Panels

*Great Moisture wicking

Cons-

*Takes a long time to dry off

*Heavy

Overall- The best way to describe my overall feelings on this rashguard are it does exactly what it says it does. Are there rashguards that I like better? Sure. I prefer a tight fit rashguard. Does that mean that this is a bad rashguard? No. It has a very soft feel to it and the construction is top notch. I can not really fault it just because it is a loose fit style. The only huge fault that I could find was how much moisture it holds in which makes it heavy. I can recommend this one just based on the quality and Jaco’s reputation. If you are in the market for a new rashguard be sure and check this one out. Oh and if long sleeve is not your style they also make a short sleeve version. You can purchase this rashguard for right around $60.

Finally Jaco's Vale Tudo shorts. How do these rank among fight shorts?? Read full review and find out.

Per Manufacturer- Nothing on these as of now as they have not been released to the public. Once I can get some specs on these shorts you will for sure find them here.

First Impression- I got these and had no idea what they were going to look like as there is no pictures of them on Jaco’s website. Once I got them out of the box I was surprised to see them in white and wished that the waistband color matched the color of the shorts. Now I will tell you, I do not typically like fight shorts in white. Due to their ability to become transparent, but could not wait to give these a try.

Construction- I have tried out many of Jaco’s products and I can tell you that most of the time their stuff is top notch. These shorts are no exception. They did not have any loose threads. The logos are screen printed on so we will have to see if they can stand up over time, but they seem to be of good quality. They are made of 90% polyester and 10% spandex. The material is very stretchy and seems thicker than most so I am hoping when they get wet they do not become see through. These shorts are constructed in China. One thing I really liked about them is they still have that little pocket on the lower front of the leg instead of inside by the waist, so I could still access it while my shorts were tied shut.

Fit- Now if I had been ordering these I would have probably ordered a size medium, but the guys at Jaco know how to size and sent me a large. It fits perfectly. They waistband has enough stretch in it so that I can get these shorts up and over my hips. It does have a drawstring which comes in handy. I was a little worried about them being too big in the legs but they are not. Sure they did ride up a little in the legs, but not enough to be either uncomfortable or look strange. The length on these is mid to upper thigh like what you would expect and for the most part that is where they stay. I could comfortably where a cup underneath them, and to be honest I hardly even noticed I was wearing them.

Stand up- I am use to wearing loose fit shorts although this is not my first pair of vale tudos. It took me awhile to get use to these especially with others around, but once I forgot about them I realized how great these shorts are. I found I barely noticed them at all. They stayed in place for the most part except for the slight riding up on the legs. I had no problem with any sort of technique, and found them to be very comfortable while doing just about anything including head kicks and clinch work.

Ground- Alright, I admit at first these shorts were a little uncomfortable when working on the ground, but that was only due to that fact that it looked like I was rolling in my underwear. Once I got past that I had no issues. These shorts are actually fantastic for ground work. They do not get tangled, shift, or ride up. These shorts did not give me any problems with any sort of ground work. I find that sometimes even though people should not they grab shorts out of instinct. Well with these this was not a problem. For ground work these shorts worked great as long as you are comfortable wearing this style of shorts.

Pros-

*Fit

*Pocket is still accessible when shorts are tied

*Quality

*Do not become transparent when wet

Cons-

*Not a style for everyone

*Kind of look like underwear

Overall- I really could not find a whole lot I did not like about these shorts. I could not give them a 5 on the overall just due to minor things however they are comfortable and they fit great. Still no problems with the screen printing and was extremely pleased when they did not become transparent due to sweat. If you are comfortable with wearing these type of shorts, then once these become available for purchase I would strongly recommend picking them up. Perhaps try them in black though.

Per Manufacture-

•Ultra-durable STR-X™ fabric that stretches effortlessly in all directions and wicks perspiration rapidly. This fabric was specifically developed to provide the technical needs that are essential in MMA: durability, exceptional 4-way stretch, breathability, moisture wicking and comfort.

•Patent-pending compression waist-tightening system that can be tightened without creating “scrunching or cinching” around the waist while providing a comfortable, no-slip fit. This system provides a compression style fit internally to the garment that allows the external look of the product to remain unchanged.

•Internal stretch pocket located at the bottom of the shorts’ leg opening so that you don’t have to untie your shorts every time you want to stow your mouthguard. This compression style pocket is designed to hold the mouthguard (or locker key) so that it does not “flop” around while working out.

•Fly backing panel construction to prevent rubbing and chafing from the fly’s hook and loop material.

•Raised “Tenacity” Icon Logo on the rear, center of waistband (patent-pending).

First Thoughts- These shorts were shipped out very fast and arrived in a box. Once out of the box they are in their own plastic bag. I was instantly pleased with how they looked. I could not wait to get them out and start training in them.

Fit and Finish- Once out of the bag the first thing that I noticed about them is the feel of the material. It is unlike anything other out there. It is very soft and almost feels like the entire fight short is once giant stretch panel. I got a 30 in these and this is where I ran into a bit of a problem. These shorts were very hard to get on because of how the closure system works. They do not have standard closure system at all and while I like it and it works very well it makes the shorts smaller around the waist when putting them on. Needless to say I had to go for a 32 in these which once I received fit much better. I have since received a 34 which fits even better. A very small amount of bunching but the length is much better.

The closure system is hard to describe so I included plenty of pictures so you can see what it looks like but it does work very well. Their are some raised logos on the inside The shorts are shorter then most shorts and fall just above the knee. I personally like my shorts a little longer then these. Like I mentioned before they do not have any stretch panel and do not need one as the entire pair of shorts feel like a stretch panel. They do have a split seam but it is shorter then most and also have a small pocket at the bottom of one of the legs. All but the very back logo are screen printed which made me nervous but we will see how they hold up over time. While wearing these shorts they are very light weight almost to the point of forgetting you have them on, and while I like that the material does feel a bit thin.

Stand up- These shorts are amazing for stand up. They move very well and do not ride up or shift at all due to the closure system and the raised logos on the inside of the waistband. I had no problem with any sort of technique and was very impressed at how much they stretched.

Here is photos of the shorts inside out.

Ground- These shorts work very well on the ground. They did not shift around my waist at all and had a huge range of motion. The legs did ride up a little but most shorts that have split seams do that and it was not annoying or uncomfortable. I had no problem with any sort of technique and these shorts performed very well on the ground.

Pros-

-Unique Closure System

-Very Comfortable

-Materials Feel

Cons-

-Screen Printed Logos

-Sizing

-Material is kind of thin

Overall-I do recommend getting a pair of these shorts. While there are some sizing issuses these are a good pair of shorts that work well at what they do. They retail for around $65 and once you get the sizing down they are a great pair of shorts.
