First Impression- The first thing that I noticed about these gloves was how big they look. For a 16oz glove they look quite big. They smelled like genuine leather and had a nice tight fit when I tried them on. Could not wait to try them out.
Con
struction- These gloves are very well constructed. They had no loose threads but one thing I did noticed was the leather seemed a little thin. All of the screen printing looked good but we will see how long it lasts. The padding is nice and thick and the gloves have a good lining that is soft. Over time I have noticed using these that the leather on the back hand of the glove has stretched from when I have made a fist and now has a ripple effect across the back side of the glove.
Fit
- These gloves have a very tight fit. The hand compartment is very tight even for me which means on people that have larger hands these gloves might be uncomfortable. The cuff on these gloves is very long and has tons of padding around it. One of the bad things I noticed about having so much padding is it can make them hard to get tight around your wrist. These gloves have something called clima cool which is mesh in the palm of the glove that is suppose to make your hand feel cooler and have better ventilation. While I think this is a good concept I wonder about the durability of this in the long run. These gloves do have a grab bar although it is placed a little lower then I like. Making a fist in these gloves is not that hard but as I get deeper into training my hand does start to become somewhat fatigued. These gloves also are very long in that they go a good distance down the forearm. Now this helps provide great wrist support but does once again add to how big they feel.
Mi
tts/Pad Work- These gloves worked okay while working either thai pads or mitts. Like I said before these gloves feel quite large on my hands, so everything felt kind of slow-mo when hitting with them. They did provide plenty of hand protection and absorbed most of the impact. These gloves have excellent padding on them however it is softer and not quite as dense as some. One thing I really liked about these gloves is the wrist support. These gloves have great wrist support and felt very good.
H
eavy Bag- On the heavy bag these gloves did not work well at all. While they did provide great wrist support the padding was just too soft. These gloves could absorb most of the impact but I did find my hands to still be sore after using these on a heavy bag. I also jambed my thumb a couple times just because of how my fist landed on the bag. Keep in mind these gloves on my hands are very tight so wrapping them made them at times uncomfortable on me, and I have small hands.
Spa
rring- I would have to say that is where these gloves worked the best. They provide enough protection for both myself and my sparring partner. One thing I did notice that I did not like is once again I could feel how big these things were, and whats really odd is a weighed them and they are actually the lightest pair of 16oz gloves I have. I did not notice the clima cool ventilation system at all as my hands seemed to be just as sweaty and hot. When performing a thai clinch these gloves worked well and I could open and close my hand easily.
Pros-
*Overall design
*Tight hand compartment
*Fantastic wrist support
Cons-
*Feel HUGE
*Don’t Notice any difference with clima cool
*Thin Leather
Ove
rall- These are good pair of gloves that does a lot of things right. If you are looking for a pair of gloves that is made in Thailand, has great wrist support and a tight fit you might want to give these a try. Even though I only found a few things these gloves do wrong the fact that they felt so big really let me down because I love the design of them. These gloves go for around $82 and can be found at www.fightstuff.us
